What to expect
An initial session will allow you the opportunity to discuss what issues have brought you to therapy.
We can use this meeting to consider if it might be possible to work together and how we might do this.
Confidentiality
What we talk about in your session remains confidential.
Supervision
My work is supervised regularly by a UKCP accredited supervisor (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists). I do not share any identifying client material with my supervisor.
Code of Ethics
I abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy 2018).
How long is a session
A session lasts for 50 minutes and it is most beneficial to attend weekly sessions.
Short or long term
I offer both short and long term psychotherapy. Short term work is generally about 12 sessions or less.
If we agree to work together after the initial session, I recommend we have 6 sessions, at which point we would have a review. A review enables us to reflect on how you have found the process, what works what doesn't in going forward, if you decide to continue. Often 6 - 12 sessions allows enough time to work on specific issues.
